21st November 2022 1 min read Lauren Beaumont

Set to boost pay for around two million people across the UK, the Government has announced a welcome increase to minimum wage rates.

From 1 April 2023, employers must pay:

  • £10.42 per hour to those aged 23 and over (a 9.7% increase from the current rate of £9.50);
  • £10.18 per hour to those aged 21-22 (a 10.9% increase from the current rate of £9.18);
  • £7.49 per hour to those aged 18-20 (a 9.7% increase from the current rate of £6.83);
  • £5.28 per hour to those aged 16-17 (a 9.7% increase from the current rate of £4.81); and
  • £5.28 per hour to an apprentice (a 9.7% increase from the current rate of £4.81).

National Living Wage (applicable to those over 23) and National Minimum Wage are the lowest hourly rate a worker can be paid per hour by law.
