How we help
People Legal regularly helps both people and businesses
We provide people and small businesses with the quality of employment law service that they should expect from a national or international law firm, at an affordable price.
We can do this as our Founder, Chris McAvoy-Newns, spent the majority of his career working as a Solicitor for such law firms.
We adopt a more modern approach to legal services. For example, clients can arrange appointments online and their key documents, together with case updates, can be made accessible 24/7 via a secure client portal. For individuals we provide free initial legal advice and apply a range of different funding options, including various “no win no fee” arrangements. Our software allows clients to sign documents online making it easier for you to work with us.
We have experience of working with people and businesses from a broad range of sectors including aviation, transport, energy, retail, financial services, recruitment, pharmaceutical, beauty, education and sport. Our work includes bringing and defending complex and high value claims for discrimination and whistleblowing, as well as unfair dismissal. One of our particular specialisms involves managing “class actions” in the Employment Tribunal.
We can help you with:
- Advising about disciplinary/dismissal processes
- Advising about employment related complaints/grievances
- Advising about equality and whistleblowing
- Advice and support with the ACAS early conciliation process
- Negotiating settlements
- Advice and representation with Employment Tribunal claims (including advocacy)
- Conducting investigations into disciplinary and grievance matters
- Advising about employment risks associated with business changes (outsourcings, insourcings etc) and acquisitions
- Drafting, reviewing and negotiating contracts of employment and service agreements
- Drafting, reviewing, advising about and negotiating settlement agreements
- Client training sessions to a range of audiences including lawyers, line managers, HR experts and employee relations managers
- Conducting workplace mediation
